When it comes to identity theft, thieves eye your garbage like hungry raccoons. Invest in a cross-cut paper shredder and turn your financial documents into confetti. When you’re shopping, make sure no one is watching as you enter your PIN. When you order new credit cards, or your previous ones expire, watch the calendar to make sure that you get the card within the appropriate time. And check your credit report at least twice a year to make sure accounts haven’t been opened in your name that you know nothing about.
